I wanted an image that could strike a visceral chord with people, and help reflect emotions that can be held so deeply within that you may not even be consciously aware of them.
Pain that needs expression in order to heal - yet isn't readily mirrored in our culture - perhaps even rather censored in our society, save for sad movies and violent media photographs.
